BikeMaintenance

* 160 KM

The rear wheel has oil residue on the hub. I originally thought the rear oil seal for the gearbox was leaking. I need to pull off the rear wheel to determine this. There might be a chance that the seal in the hub is faulty. I dissembled the spare wheel and can see where this might be happening

* 320 KM

After riding the bike for over 320 KM I noticed that idle needed to be adjusted. I put a 1/4 turn of both idle screws and now the bike is idling lower.

* 347 KM

The speedometer started making a high pitch squealing noise. I took it out and disassembled it. There was nothing in the speedometer that could be fixed. I made sure there was grease on all the moving parts. I reassembled the speedometer and I hope some magic with make the noise go away.

* Somewhere after 374 KM

The barrel on the end of the clutch cable broke rendering forward motion difficult to impossible. I had a set of spare cables but not the clutch cable. My first thought was to jury rig something to pull the cable while I was driving but this didn’t happen. The pressure on the clutch was to great to overcome without some type of mechanical advantage.

I sought the help of some near by friends who do pluming work. Pluming? With several spare cables I was able to remove the barrel from one cable and soldering it to the old clutch cable. This proved to be more difficult than I would have thought. The solder didn’t want to melt so I was forced to purchase some solder that did. On the final attempt the solder stayed and I was able to drive the bike home.
